Daniel’s Fast – Reafirms the Importance of Fruits and Vegies

In today’s over-processed, fast food society, our bodies work hard on trying to extract the vital nutrients we need from our daily input of fast foods.  It is no wonder that people today suffer from stress, headaches, tiredness, poor concentration, and are overweight just to name a few. Research has shown that 65% of these symptoms are caused by what we eat. Which unfortunately is to much over processed foods which is low in nutritional value and high in fat.

If you are familiar with the Bible, Daniel had rejected the King of Babylon’s food and all of its fancy. This rejection of the Kings food is recorded in the Bible, The Book of Daniel, Chapter 1, verse 1. Daniel and his companions knew that the meats laid before them were probably sacrificed to false gods and idols and Daniel wanted no part of that. The King understandably was upset that Daniel and his companions refused his delicacies as he wanted them to be strong and eventually serve in the palace. Daniel and his companions did agree however to a diet of vegetables and water for the next 10 days. Ironically after the 10 days had passed, Daniel and his companions were much healthier than the other captives which had been eating the King’s rich food. The success of the vegetable and water diet is found in the Book of Daniel, Chapter 1, verse 15. The King was so impressed with the health and conviction of Daniel and his companions that they went on to have prominent positions in the King’s service.

The Book of Daniel Chapter 1 reaches out to Hippocrates teaching of “let food be your medicine and medicine be your food” and modern life today about how important fruits and vegetables are in our diet. Additionally, it teaches the principles of natural health and healing, and explains the important connection between body, mind and spirit in our health and longevity. Daniel’s diet teaches us that God created specific nutrients in foods which impact our health and offers spiritual answers to overcoming ill health. Last but not least, the Book of Daniel gives the reader the opportunity and the strength to undertake a 10-day detox and weight loss plan and shows through testimonies the success of the diet.

When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. Some people may experience headaches due to withdrawals from caffeine and other products that their body is used to having. After these things are out of your system, you will likely feel better as your body enjoys natural, healthy foods free from chemicals and preservatives.

While fasting, spend time listening to praise and worship. Pray often throughout the day for guidance and strength. Keep you heart and mind set on seeking God’s face and you will feel so great and blessed when the 10 days are done.
